Your hosts

Laura and Willy

Since 2026, Camping Beau Rivage has been run by Laura Huisman and Willy Tamerti. Laura literally grew up amongst the tents and caravans: her parents, John and Vera, had been running the campsite with great love and dedication since 1996. Willy has been camping at Beau Rivage since he was seventeen; it’s his second home. Together with their children, Milan and Lily, they now form the new generation. What remains is the warm, personal atmosphere; what’s been added are fresh ideas and new plans, always with respect for what makes Beau Rivage so special. John and Vera can still be found at the campsite on a regular basis and remain involved behind the scenes.

Our story

Fifty years of Beau Rivage

Some places exist not just because of their stones or buildings, but above all because of the people who return there year after year.

How it all began

Half a century ago, the then mayor of Cardet, Monsieur Bourjas, saw this spot on the banks of the Gardon as more than just a piece of land: a place for meeting, freedom and togetherness. In 1995, John and Vera’s family decided to take over the campsite; in March 1996, they moved to Cardet with their daughters Laura and Rosa, not knowing what the adventure would bring.

Thirty years of family life

For thirty years, John and Vera watched children take their first steps on the grass, make friends and later return with their own children. Friendships blossomed at long tables, whilst doing the washing-up and round the campfire. A campsite never belongs solely to its owners: it comes to life through the guests who return year after year. That’s how what we call the ‘Beau Rivage feeling’ came about: a bit like coming home.

Where the name comes from

The name Beau Rivage comes from the pastoral novel *Estelle* (1788) by the fabulist Jean-Pierre Claris de Florian, who grew up in this region and lived at Cardet Castle for a few years. He describes a valley along the Gardon, at the foot of the Cévennes between Anduze and Massane, where nature has preserved all its treasures: a charming retreat, aptly named Beau Rivage, where shepherds and shepherdesses enjoy the beautiful sky and the tranquillity by the river.

A new generation

In their anniversary year, John and Vera handed over the campsite to their daughter Laura and son-in-law Willy, both of whom have been closely involved for many years and share the same love for this place, nature and the people who stay here. Hospitality, tranquillity, nature and a friendly atmosphere are at the heart of what we do, whether for families, couples, those seeking peace and quiet, or active holidaymakers.

We look forward to meeting you in person at Camping Beau Rivage. Laura and Willy
